On the second day of the Inline Regionalliga Süd the Vikings played the Langen White Wolves and cruised to a 8-0 victory.
This time, the Vikings, who came into the tournament with a win and a loss from day one, could rely on a full roster of 10 players and two goalies. Langen had already played one game earlier that day, which turned out to be a difference maker.
The Vikings put pressure on the White Wolves right from the start and Andre Bessonof scored the first goal 2:50 into the game. Both teams exchanged a few scoring chances before the Vikings extended their lead to a commanding 4-0 as Sebastian Burstedde completed a hattrick during the second half of the first period. Rob Painter, playing his last game as a Viking added a buzzer-beater to make it 5-0 at halftime.
The White Wolves did not have any reserves for the second half and the Vikings continued the game with the next goal after 24 seconds into play by Patrick Zell. After that both teams reduced the intensity, giving the Langen goalie time to rest and some Vikings the room to show off their stickhandling (Steve Zimmerman with the 7-0) and figure-skating abilities (honorable mention here to Preston Hough – no goal but some impressive moves). Nick Stortini (1G, 2A) added the last goal of the day, after which the White Wolves called off the game – paying tribute to the weather conditions (27°C).
Next tournament will take place on the 3rd of July in Assenheim.
