Warm wet weather all week threatened this year’s annual “Battle for Henkell” pond hockey tournament, but the prayers to the hockey gods were answered and the weather cooperated to allow for amazing day of pond hockey with friends and family. A total of 56 players from the Vikings battled for several hours to determine who would be the “Kings of Henkell,” but the highlight of the day was getting everyone together for a few drinks and a few laughs, and enjoying this great hockey family. The games were competitive and intense, and some blood was spilt, but when the dust settled it was Sons of Penalty who would be crowned as kings, with the Lumberchecks in second and The Fighting Uff Das in third. A special thanks to Henkell for their generous support and donation of several bottles of sekt, to include the largest bottle of sekt that most people have ever seen. And also thank you to all those who came early and stayed late to help support and make this day possible. GVG, and OBAMA!
