The Vikings opened the 2015 Regionalliga Süd season with a convincing 8-4 (5-2 | 3-2) victory over the Langen White Wolves on Sunday.
Rob Painter recorded a hat trick and an assist while Steve May jr. had 2 goals and 2 assists.
After a balanced opening phase in which both teams exchanged first goals the Vikings were able to build a three-goal lead and dominated the rest of the first half.
In the second period the outnumbered Vikings (6 skaters only) allowed their opponents too many scoring chances but were able to defend their lead due to great goaltending by Sascha Lichtnau and additional scoring –
Patrick Zell and Matt Haynes each had a three-point game.
The next Regionalliga tournament is scheduled for the 7th of June at Assenheim.
