VIKINGS TAKE 2ND PLACE AT INAUGURAL CUDDEBACK CUP

CUDDEBACK DROP (800x638)CUDDEBACK TROPHY (800x533)

From 27-29 September 2013 both the Vikings RED and Vikings BLACK teams traveled to Zweibrucken, Germany to play in the inaugural Cuddeback Cup.  The tournament was hosted our friends the KMC Eagles and was in memory of an Airman that was tragically killed by a terrorist in a shooting at the Frankfurt airport in 2011.

Vikings BLACK began the tournament by taking part in a ceremonial puck drop by a General Officer of the unit to which A1C Cuddeback was assigned.  Following the puck drop, Vikings BLACK squared off against the KMC Eagles’ top team.  While the Vikings put up a fight, they were beaten 2-1 and immediately dropped to the losers bracket.  However, Vikings BLACK won their next 7 games to skate their way into the finals against the Eagles again.  Unfortunately, the 7 games had taken its toll on the Vikings and, despite a valiant effort, they fell to the Eagles 4-1.

Both Vikings BLACK and Vikings RED had a wonderful time at the tournament and we look forward to playing again next year.
